Scott Wright Doubt Deepens Before Dundee Vs St. Mirren

Dundee vs. St. Mirren has picked up an early injury wrinkle, with Scott Wright now in doubt after a slight setback. Steven Pressley said he is the only Dundee player currently uncertain for the weekend.

Wright played 69 minutes in last weekend’s 3-0 loss to Dundee United, but Pressley said the midfielder has since hit another problem. He told the club he was frustrated by the latest interruption and would not say Wright was definitely out, only that there is a doubt about him.

Pressley on Wright

“We have only one player who is a doubt at present in Scott Wright. It's been a frustrating time for him. When he came in he had a couple of games where he made a good impression coming off the bench, and then we thought he was getting closer. He played last weekend but he's had a slight setback,” Pressley said ahead of Dundee’s weekend game against St Mirren.

“I'm not saying he'll definitely not be ready for the weekend, but there is a doubt about him,” he added. That leaves Dundee waiting on a player who joined in January from Birmingham City and had played just six minutes for the Midlands club before the move.

Wright’s Dundee minutes

Seven Dundee appearances this term have given Wright only a limited run, and that makes every fitness issue more disruptive for a side trying to move toward league safety. He arrived with a long spell behind him at Rangers between 2021 and 2024, where he won the league, started the Europa League final, and scored in the 2022 Scottish Cup final win over Hearts.

Wright has already spoken about needing time to get back to his markers physically and mentally, saying, “It’s going to take time physically and mentally to try and hit the process and the markers I’m wanting to.” He also said, “I’m certainly ticking a lot more off than I would have been if I wasn’t playing.”

Clark Robertson training

Pressley had better news on Clark Robertson. He said the defender has trained and has got through a week of work with no adverse reactions, but the weekend is probably too early for him.

That leaves Dundee with one clear doubt and one returning option still not quite ready, a small but real squeeze on selection before St Mirren arrive. For a squad trying to secure safety, Wright’s status is the one to watch.
