Lam Sees Leigh Edge Dragons Vs Leopards Before Round 10

Leigh head to Perpignan for dragons vs leopards with a third straight win in sight, and Adrian Lam has put the matchup down to two clubs coping with similar pressure. Leigh are two points off the top six, while Catalans sit above them in seventh.

Lam’s Perpignan read

Lam said both sides have been forced to handle adversity while chasing consistency. “They have had their own challenges themselves, with a different coach now in charge but they seem to have come through it.”

He added: “I know they had a hiccup last week against Leeds, but they’ve got great players in their squad and they’re playing great rugby at different times.” The Leigh boss also pointed to Catalans’ home win over Warrington as proof they can still put results together.

Catalans and Leigh form

Leigh arrive after back-to-back wins over York Knights and Huddersfield Giants, a run that lifted them within two points of the top six. Catalans, under Ryan Sheridan after Joel Tomkins returned to England for personal reasons and later switched to rugby union with Gloucester, have won two of their last three matches.

That run has been mixed. Catalans were beaten 46-4 by Leeds Rhinos at Headingley last time out, yet Lam still described them as a side with great players and one that is “playing great rugby at different times.”

David Armstrong’s return

Leigh also have David Armstrong in line for his first appearance since suffering an ACL injury last June. He has already had a successful run-out with the reserves, and his return gives Leigh another option as they try to turn two straight wins into three.

Lam tied the bigger picture to the points table. “They’re a little bit inconsistent - like us - but at home against Warrington, that was a great win for them.” He then set out the target in direct terms: “They’ll want a response from how they played at Leeds, but we’ve trying to find some consistency ourselves on a week-to-week basis, and this could put another two points on the ladder and move closer to where we want to get to.”

Elsewhere, Wigan Warriors are trying to end a four-game losing run against Bradford Bulls at the Brick Community Stadium, with Liam Marshall sidelined by a hamstring tear and Dayon Sambou out with a PCL injury. Bradford could welcome back Andy Ackers and Guy Armitage, while Huddersfield Giants host Warrington Wolves at 8:00pm.
