Washington Spirit Vs Orlando Pride: Hines Eyes Response at Inter&Co Stadium

Washington Spirit vs Orlando Pride lands at Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., and Orlando gets a quick chance to steady itself after a 3-2 loss at Racing Louisville last week. The Pride enter at two wins, two draws and two defeats, while Washington comes in after a 4-0 win over Kansas City.

Hines on Washington

Seb Hines called it a rivalry that has already produced plenty of heat. “It's always a good matchup against Washington,” he said after training this week at Orlando Health Training Ground at Sylvan Lake Park.

He added, “We've established some sort of rivalry now, which is always great to be involved in. Two teams that have had a lot of success in the last couple of years.” That history includes meetings in 2017 and a sharper edge in 2024, when the teams crossed paths in the NWSL Shield and Championship.

Transition Moments

The matchup turns quickly when Washington gets space to run. Hines pointed to that area directly: “One of their biggest threats is transition moments, and that's going to be important going into this game.”

That leaves Orlando with a clear task in front of its own back line and midfield shape. Washington found a clean result last weekend, while the Pride are trying to settle a start that has produced six matches split evenly across wins, draws and defeats.

Yates and Inter&Co

Summer Yates put the focus on the opening stages and the home setting. “We're gonna come with a little bit more bite into things, just because, like, we feel we need to get on top of games quicker,” she said before Saturday's match.

She was even more direct about the first goal. “We definitely want to create the momentum in the beginning and just come out the right way. We want to get a goal first. We feel that when we score first, we win. So that's something that we really want to take.”

Inter&Co Stadium also changes the feel for Orlando. The Pride have not played a home match since the first weekend of April, and Yates said, “They're definitely like our 12th man,” before adding, “They bring so much energy. We're super excited to play there again — and they have a great match to come watch, because it's gonna be competitive.”
