Kia Cuts 2026 EV6 Pricing, Undercuts Tesla Model Y
Kia cut the 2026 EV6 by almost $6,000, and the base Light trim now starts under $38,000, which puts the electric crossover below the rear-drive tesla model y. For buyers comparing monthly payments and sticker prices, that moves the EV6 from a premium-priced EV into a tighter fight with mainstream rivals.
Kia EV6 Light under $38,000
The Light trim now lands in the high $37,000 range, and some 2026 EV6 configurations sit closer to $37,000. That gives shoppers a lower entry point than the Tesla Model Y's $39,990 starting price, even before comparing equipment.
The EV6 Light Long Range drops $5,000 to roughly $41,200. The Wind trim loses $5,500 and lands around $44,800. GT-Line versions get reductions of up to $5,900 depending on drivetrain.
Tesla Model Y and rivals
The new pricing puts Kia in a more direct value comparison with the Tesla Model Y, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at around $35,000, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E Select at $37,795. Buyers looking only at range now have to weigh the numbers that hit the wallet first: list price, incentives, and what they expect to pay each month.
Leftover 2025 EV6 stock
Dealers are pushing up to $10,000 in incentives on leftover 2025 EV6s, which means a year-old car on the lot can beat the new 2026 model on paper. That leaves shoppers with a sharper tradeoff than a simple model-year upgrade, because the cheaper sticker is not always the cheaper deal.
The EV6 GT is missing from the 2026 model year lineup, and Kia has put it on hold indefinitely. For buyers who wanted the quickest version, the lower base price comes with a narrower choice sheet, and the next decision is whether to move on the reduced-price 2026 model or hunt for a discounted 2025 EV6 before those incentives change.
