Devajit Saikia Says Ipl Schedule Will Arrive in Two Days

The ipl schedule for the IPL 2026 playoffs is coming in two days, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said on 02 May 2026. The tournament had already crossed the halfway mark, and the update narrows the window on decisions that will shape the final phase of the season.

Saikia's IPL Timeline

Saikia gave the timing at a press conference on 02 May 2026, saying, "IPL playoffs schedule is coming in two days." He also said, "The BCCI is seriously thinking about taking measures so that the IPL's reputation is not damaged," after the league had reached its 44th game and was about to move deeper into the remaining 26 matches.

Chennai Super Kings were scheduled to take on Mumbai Indians on the same day, keeping the league stage moving while the playoff picture waited for an official release. Saikia added, "You can keep asking, but I will not say anything for now," when asked about the convention of last year's finalists hosting the Playoffs.

Playoff Venues At Stake

The delay leaves the playoff venues and dates unresolved even after last month's report that Bengaluru and New Chandigarh would host the playoffs, including the final. The governing council had already split the group-stage dates into two phases because of Assembly Elections in India, and in May 2026 there were no Saturday double headers, with twin matches limited to Sundays.

That makes the next announcement the one that matters for the route from the league table to the title match. Teams still playing for position now have a tighter timeline, and any venue choice will shape travel, recovery and the final stretch of the season.

Women's Team Departure

Saikia also said, "The team will leave on the 22nd," referring to the India women's team, another date now fixed on the calendar alongside the approaching playoff release. For IPL clubs and their supporters, the message is simple: the league's final-stage map is close, but the official version is still a matter of days, not hours.
