Ja’Kobi Lane, Elijah Sarratt Draft Picks Push Ravens Cowboys Trade Proposal

The ravens cowboys trade proposal got a sharper edge when the Baltimore Ravens used the 2026 NFL Draft to add two wide receivers, Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt. That puts Rashod Bateman under real roster pressure after five seasons of uneven production.

Bateman Faces New Competition

Baltimore spent two of its 11 total picks on the receiver room, taking Lane in the third round out of USC and Sarratt in the fourth out of Indiana. The move adds another layer of competition to a position group that has not produced much from the draft over time, and it leaves Bateman with less room to coast on reputation or draft status.

Bateman entered the league as the 27th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and signed a three-year, $36.75 million extension in April 2024. He has 157 catches, 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns in five years with Baltimore, but he has never caught 50 passes in a season or reached 800 receiving yards.

Ravens Receiver History

The pressure on Bateman is sharper because the Ravens have already cycled through a long list of drafted receivers without getting top-tier output back. Wide receiver has been the most drafted position in team history, with 37 picks at the spot, yet that group has produced only four 1,000-yard seasons, zero 100-catch seasons and one 10-plus touchdown season.

Bateman’s best year came in 2024, when he finished with 45 catches, 756 yards and nine touchdowns. Last year, he slipped to 19 catches for 224 yards and two touchdowns while starting 12 games, a line that did little to separate him from the pack or protect his standing.

Lane, Sarratt And The Depth Chart

The rookies also arrive in a room that has not offered much resistance from the lower end of the depth chart. Devontez Walker has seven receptions in 21 games over two years, and four of those catches went for touchdowns, while Tylan Wallace had 22 catches for 305 yards and two touchdowns over five years before moving to Cleveland this offseason.

That leaves Baltimore with more draft investment at receiver and a narrower margin for Bateman to treat his role as settled. If Lane or Sarratt produce quickly, the roster math gets tighter fast, and Bateman’s contract will carry less weight than his next stretch of production.
