CHP recovers $600,000 in tools in Home Depot Theft Search Warrant

California Highway Patrol investigators used a home depot theft search warrant to dismantle a theft operation tied to Southern California stores and recover more than $600,000 in merchandise. Two suspects were linked to a fencing operation that bought stolen inventory and resold it at a Los Angeles County swap meet.

The CHP’s Southern Division Organized Retail Crime Task Force tied the two suspects to the operation. Investigators said the suspects acted as intermediary purchasers rather than stealing the items themselves, then moved the stolen construction tools back into resale channels.

A raid on the suspects’ home today produced the recovered merchandise. The primary resale hub was shuttered today as well, cutting off the swap meet outlet that investigators say carried the stolen tools.

Los Angeles County swap meet

The case centered on a resale pipeline that moved merchandise from Home Depot stores across Southern California into a swap meet in Los Angeles County. The specific Home Depot locations were not listed, and authorities have not yet identified the individual shoplifters who supplied the suspects with the tools.

The two arrested individuals are being withheld pending further investigative steps. CHP says the investigation is ongoing, leaving the case open on the supply side even after the resale hub was shut down and the merchandise was recovered.
