Barcelona Beats Bayern 4-2 to Set Lyon Fc Final
lyon fc now has its final opponent. FC Barcelona beat Bayern Munich 4-2 on Sunday in the second leg of their Women’s Champions League semifinal, turning a 1-1 first leg into a 4-2 aggregate win and booking a place in the final on 23 May in Oslo.
Putellas Decides It In Camp Nou
Salma Paralluelo struck in the 13th minute, Linda Dallmann answered in the 17th, and Alexia Putellas restored Barcelona’s lead in the 22nd minute. After Ewa Pajor made it 3-1 in the 55th minute, Putellas scored again three minutes later to put the tie beyond Bayern’s reach.
Pernille Harder pulled one back in the 71st minute, but her 90th-minute effort was ruled out after a VAR review for a foul by Dallmann on Patri. That left Barcelona with the 4-2 second-leg win and a 5-3 aggregate victory over Bayern.
Mahmutovic’s Shirt Problem
The match also brought an unusual equipment issue for Bayern goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic, who played the full 90 minutes in a light yellow warm-up shirt instead of her usual goalkeeper shirt. Bayern had forgotten to bring a shirt color approved by UEFA to Camp Nou, and Barcelona provided a replacement at the last moment, printed with Mahmutovic’s name and number.
Claudia Neumann said, "Elle avait visiblement apporté un maillot dont la couleur n’était pas homologuée pour la rencontre: trop proche de celui de la gardienne de Barcelone ou de l’arbitre". It was a strange footnote to a semifinal that quickly moved past the shirt problem and into Barcelona’s control.
Olympique lyonnais Awaits
Barcelona’s reward is Olympique lyonnais in the final on 23 May in Oslo, Norway. Lyon reached that matchup on Saturday after Jule Brand scored once and added one assist in a 3-1 win over Arsenal, setting up the same final stage Barcelona wanted after surviving the two-legged semifinal.
