Chivu Targets 21st Title as Inter Vs Parma Arrives Sunday

Inter vs Parma could settle the Serie A race on Sunday, with Inter one victory from a 21st league title at San Siro. Napoli stayed nine points back after a 0-0 draw with Como on Saturday, leaving Inter in control heading into a match that now carries a direct championship payoff.

Chivu and San Siro

Cristian Chivu put the target plainly: “We need three points, and we want to kill it off as soon as possible.” Inter had dropped two points last weekend after surrendering a 2-0 lead against Torino, so the margin for another slip is gone if they want to finish the job at home.

He also brushed aside the sentimental angle tied to Parma. “Zero. I'm only focused on my job and my duty,” Chivu said when asked about those links, before adding, “It's our dream. It started nine months ago. I think about taking home one of the season's objectives. I must transmit serenity and ambition, but also desire and the appropriate attitude; the rest doesn’t count.”

Inter Against Parma

The matchup leans heavily toward Inter. They are unbeaten in their last eight Serie A meetings with Parma and have scored at least two goals in each of those seven most recent league games against them. At San Siro this season, Inter have a home goal difference of +32 after their first 17 home games, a number that matches the way they have managed results on their own ground.

That history sits beside Chivu’s own Parma link. He steered Parma to top-flight safety at the end of last season, but Sunday’s assignment is stripped down to one task: protect the title race from another delay and turn a strong position into a finished one.

Thuram and Parma

Marcus Thuram adds another edge to Inter’s attack. Since the start of April, he has been directly involved in seven goals in Europe’s top five leagues, with five goals and two assists in 322 minutes. Inter have not needed a full-scale rebuild to reach this point; they have needed a clean final push.

Parma arrive with a threat of their own through Elphege, who has been involved in a goal in each of his last three Serie A matches. Still, the table gives Inter the clearer path: beat Parma, and the title is theirs before the weekend is over.
