Véronique Claveau sings Canadian anthem at UBS Arena before Titanique

véronique claveau sang the bilingual Canadian national anthem at UBS Arena in New York before the Broadway première of Titanique. The performance came the day before the show opened on Broadway, turning a hockey-night invitation into a cross-border promotional stop for the production.

UBS Arena and the Islanders invite

Véronique Claveau said the New York Islanders reached out through a private Instagram message, asking her to sing because the team was facing the Ottawa Senators and its general manager is Mathieu Darche. She described the assignment as risky, saying national anthems are polarizing and that the choice put her under real pressure.

“L’équipe Entertainment des Islanders de New York était intéressée à me faire venir pour que je puisse chanter l’hymne national bilingue – puisque leur directeur général est Mathieu Darche – quand ils allaient affronter une équipe canadienne bilingue.” The game at UBS Arena gave the anthem a setting that linked a Canadian song to a New York arena and a Canadian opponent in the same night.

Surreal before Titanique

“Ç’a été un moment vraiment surréaliste.” Claveau said she went ahead anyway, telling herself, “Ça va bien se passer,” and adding, “J’y allais surtout avec fierté et avec un grand sourire.” She said, “J’ai vraiment tout donné,” and “J’ai savouré le moment,” after singing at the arena.

The anthem was filmed by France Beaudoin’s production company, Pamplemousse, which adds a second layer to the stop: the performance was not just a game-night appearance, but content tied to Claveau’s broader visibility around Titanique. That makes the UBS Arena cameo more than a one-off, because it sat inside a production and publicity cycle around the musical.

Broadway première on 12 April

On 12 April, Claveau attended the Broadway première of Titanique, where she said she met the team and went to an after-party. “Beaucoup d’actrices ont interprété Céline dans ce spectacle, et on était quelques-unes à la première. C’était comme un genre de rassemblement,” she said, adding, “C’était vraiment extraordinaire !”

Claveau plays Céline Dion in the parodie musicale, which opened off-Broadway in New York in 2022 and remained there until 2025.

That puts her New York anthem appearance inside a larger rollout that still has Paris, Sydney and London in the mix, while the French version is set for summer.
