Bindi Irwin Is Doing Much Better Amid Endometriosis Battle

Bindi Irwin is doing much better amid her endometriosis battle, her family said on May 2 at the 3rd Annual Steve Irwin Gala at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. The update matters because it shows the wildlife conservationist is well enough to keep working, even if travel still asks more of her than it used to.

“Bindi is doing so much better now,” Terri Irwin said in a joint interview with Robert Irwin. Terri added, “So, things like a lot of travel are a bit challenging for her at the moment and so she’ll be here next year to celebrate this wonderful night.” She also said, “This year she’s just staying a little close to home.”

That lines up with the practical reality of a family business spread across a lot of ground. Robert said, “You gotta remember [in] Australia Zoo there’s 500 in our team,” and added, “There’s about 500,000 acres of conservation land that we have. Someone’s got to hold down the fort. So, Bindi’s doing a great job at that.”

March 30 Health Update

On March 30, Bindi posted about her illness on Instagram and laid out how long the fight has been going on. She wrote that she had spent 10 years being undiagnosed and that 50 lesions had been cut out of her body over the past three years.

She also said, “As a teenager and young woman, I felt weak and deeply insecure,” and, “I was trapped in my own body.” Her March 30 post gave the clearest public picture yet of what she has been dealing with, and it made her family’s May 2 update read less like reassurance than a status report on whether the work can keep moving around her health.

The answer from Las Vegas was blunt: she is still close to home, but she is still working. Robert’s comments point to a setup where Bindi can keep contributing at Australia Zoo while travel stays limited, and the family expects her back for next year’s gala once that load eases.
