Armagh Crush Down 3-33 in Ulster Football Championship Rout
Armagh powered past Down 3-33 to 0-14 in Sunday’s ulster football championship semi-final at St Tiernach’s Park in Clones, turning the second half into a runaway finish. The win sent Armagh into the Ulster final and pushed Down out of the All-Ireland series.
McCormack And Turbitt
Tomas McCormack opened the scoring punch for Armagh with a first-half goal, and Conor Turbitt added another before the break. Turbitt struck again in the second half as Armagh kept pulling away, with the forward line driving the margin beyond reach.
Armagh’s 1-21 in the second half alone showed how far the game tilted after halftime. Down never recovered from that burst, and the final score left them with no route back into the All-Ireland series.
McGeeney's Armagh Push
Kieran McGeeney guided Armagh through a result that carries extra weight because the county’s last Ulster Championship triumph came in 2008. The players delivered the kind of scoreboard pressure that had been missing for too long, and the size of the margin gave the performance a clear edge over a standard semi-final win.
Armagh now meet Monaghan in the Ulster Senior Football Championship final on May 17, with St Tiernach’s Park set to host the Anglo Celt Cup game again. For Down, the loss ends the provincial run and starts a Tailteann Cup campaign instead.
