Dorian Thompson-robinson Posts 313 Yards in Birmingham's 45-28 Loss
Dorian Thompson-Robinson put up some of the best numbers of his career in his first UFL start, but it was not enough to snap the Birmingham Stallions’ losing streak. He finished with 313 passing yards, two touchdowns and a rushing score in a 45-28 loss to the DC Defenders on Friday night.
Stallions Leaned on Thompson-Robinson
Thompson-Robinson completed 28 of 43 passes and added 43 rushing yards, giving Birmingham three total touchdowns from its new quarterback. The Stallions needed that production after acquiring him in a trade from the Orlando Storm on April 19, less than a week before he took the field.
The game also came with a cost. Thompson-Robinson was intercepted twice on tipped passes, and Birmingham could not keep pace after putting him in position to carry the offense in his debut.
Birmingham Falls To 1-4
The loss dropped Birmingham to 1-4 and stretched its skid to four games. For a team that sent quarterback Matt Corral and defensive end Amani Bledsoe to Orlando in the deal, the first look at Thompson-Robinson showed production without a win attached to it.
The quarterback arrived with a longer resume behind him. The Browns picked him in the fifth round of the 2023 draft with the 140th overall selection, he played at UCLA and left as the program’s all-time leader in total offense, and he was later traded to the Philadelphia Eagles before being waived ahead of the regular season. Birmingham now has his first start, but the record still sits below.500.
Orlando Storm Trade Return
Orlando had drafted Thompson-Robinson in January and turned to Jack Plummer as its starter during training camp. Plummer has helped Orlando to a 4-1 start with 996 passing yards, eight touchdowns and one interception, while Thompson-Robinson’s new stop began with volume, efficiency and a loss that left Birmingham chasing a reset.
