Stephen Ireland was taken to hospital after a heavy tackle stopped the Wythenshawe Vets cup final on Sunday, with an ambulance called onto the pitch and the match abandoned. The injury came during a veterans final against South Liverpool veterans and brought the game to an immediate halt.
