Jackson Chourio Activation Delayed After Left Ankle Foul Ball

Jackson Chourio’s 2026 debut was pushed back after he fouled a ball off his left ankle in a Triple-A rehab game on Saturday. The Brewers had been expecting to activate him Monday from the 10-day injured list, but that plan changed after the setback.

Pat Murphy Tracks Chourio’s Ankle

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said, “we got to see how he progresses. Today’s going to be a critical day.” Chourio had already been beyond the initial recovery timeline of 2-to-4 weeks before the ankle problem added another pause to his return.

An X-ray on the left ankle was negative, which gives Milwaukee at least one clean test result after the foul-ball injury. Even so, Chourio still had not seen any big league action in 2026, so the club’s plans to get one of its top outfielders back remain on hold.

Andrew Vaughn Nears Return

While Chourio’s timetable slipped, Andrew Vaughn is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list. Vaughn missed time after a hamate bone injury on Opening Day that required surgery, and he played in just one game in the 2026 campaign before the injury.

Vaughn’s return gives Milwaukee a needed bat after he hit.308/.375/.493 with nine home runs in 254 plate appearances following last June’s deal from the White Sox. His activation would add a hitter who produced when he was on the field, even if the roster still has to absorb Chourio’s delay.

Milwaukee’s Pitching Watch

Jacob Misiorowski also moved through a short scare after leaving his last start with a hamstring cramp, then came out of a running drill yesterday feeling fine. If everything holds, he should line up for his next start in St. Louis on Wednesday.

Logan Henderson gave Milwaukee another useful line in Brandon Woodruff’s place, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings against the Nationals with eight strikeouts and zero walks. The Brewers are working through a stretched staff, and Chourio’s delayed return keeps one more lineup piece from joining the group just as the team tries to stabilize both the rotation and the outfield.
