Liverpool Set 95 Million Euro Micky Van De Ven Transfer Move
Liverpool have moved to the front of the micky van de ven transfer chase and are ready to meet Tottenham Hotspur’s asking price of 95 million euros this summer. The push comes as the club lines up for a long-term reset in central defence, with Virgil van Dijk expected to leave when his contract expires in 2027.
Van Dijk and Liverpool’s plans
Van de Ven has been on Liverpool’s radar before he joined Tottenham, and the links have not faded over the past couple of years. Spanish outlet Fichajes reported that the 25-year-old Dutch centre-back is Liverpool’s top target to lead the defence, with the club preparing an offer worth 95 million euros.
That price tag sets the scale of the move. Tottenham have drawn a clear line at 95 million euros, and Liverpool are now prepared to match it for a player who has become one of the Premier League’s most formidable defenders.
Danny Murphy on van de Ven
Danny Murphy said the Tottenham defender suits the role Liverpool are targeting. “I think he (Micky van de Ven) ticks the boxes,” Murphy said. “I think obviously he’s a wonderful athlete, good footballer.”
Murphy also pointed to the flexibility that makes van de Ven more than a straightforward centre-back option. “Adaptable as well, he can play left-back, left wing-back, he’s played different positions for his national team,” he said. “He’s big, he’s got presence, he’s got Premier League experience.”
The former Liverpool midfielder added one reservation. “My only slight concern with van de Ven is his injury record,” Murphy said. “I don’t think he’s played a full-season yet and what you want at the back is durable players who can build relationships.” He still backed the move on ability, saying: “But in terms of his ability, he’ll be on the radar.”
Tottenham’s £82m barrier
The reported fee also underlines the leverage Tottenham hold. In British terms, 95 million euros works out to £82m, a figure that would place van de Ven among the most expensive defensive moves Liverpool have tried to complete in recent windows.
Liverpool’s centre-back options from next season are already taking shape, with Ibrahima Konate said to have agreed on a new contract and Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet also available. Even so, van de Ven remains the priority because Liverpool want a defender who can fit the long run, not just patch a gap for one season.
For Liverpool, the next step is simple: turn the stated willingness to pay into a completed deal. For Tottenham, the price has been set and the bidding floor is already public, with van de Ven’s future now tied to whether Liverpool follow through on the figure they are prepared to offer.
