Bogere fires AGF past Sonderjyske, Titouan Droguet note

titouan droguet is in the picture only because AGF’s 2-1 home win over Sonderjyske turned on an 18-year-old: James Bogere scored in injury time to send AGF back to first place in the Danish Superliga on Sunday evening. The striker’s first goal for AGF came after a match that swung late, with FC Midtjylland still able to overtake AGF on Monday evening.

AGF’s late finish

AGF had already seen the match move against its early control. Kristian Arnstad wasted an open chance six minutes in, then Tobias Bech put AGF ahead at the start of the second half after Frederik Emmery’s delivery.

The decisive sequence arrived after Sonderjyske equalized with nine minutes remaining. Anders Bergholt set up Olti Hyseni, and Hyseni scored his fifth goal of the season, four of which had come in the spring. Bogere then finished the match in injury time and gave AGF the three points it needed to move back to the top.

Sonderjyske and the equalizer

Sonderjyske had its own route back into the game through Hyseni’s late finish, and Nicolai Flo was on the field as AGF’s pressure kept building. Maxime Soulas also featured for Sonderjyske in a match that stayed open until the final moments, before Bogere settled it.

Jakob Poulsen sent Frederik Emmery on at the start of the second half, and the substitute’s cross or delivery became the direct feed for Bech’s header. AGF’s advantage did not last, but the response to the equalizer did, and that left the home side with a narrow result that changed the top of the table.

FC Midtjylland in reach

AGF finished the evening with a three-point gap over FC Midtjylland, but FC Midtjylland had a game in hand and a clearly better goal difference. That left Monday evening’s meeting with Viborg FF as the route back to first place if FC Midtjylland won.

For AGF, the immediate gain was simple: Bogere’s first goal for the club restored the lead in the Danish Superliga. For FC Midtjylland, the task was just as clear on Monday evening, because one win could undo AGF’s late work and push the race back the other way.
