Gurjapneet Singh Spurs IPL 2026 Revenge Week Rematch Run
gurjapneet singh is back at the center of an IPL 2026 slate built on revenge. JioStar is calling the stretch Revenge Week, with Chennai Super Kings against Mumbai Indians leading a set of rematches that already produced decisive results.
Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals sit in the top three spots, which gives the week a sharper edge than a normal run of league fixtures. Aakash Chopra put it plainly: “When you look at where both teams are on the table, this isn't just a rivalry or a revenge match; it's also about sustenance and staying alive in the tournament.”
CSK and MI return
Chennai Super Kings have already handled Mumbai Indians twice this season. They beat MI first at the Wankhede Stadium, then repeated the result in the reverse fixture, leaving Mumbai with a second chance to answer a matchup they have not solved yet.
Chopra said, “CSK were convincing in the earlier meeting, so they come in with that edge, but MI know they can't afford another slip-up at this stage.” That turns this rematch into more than a replay of the earlier scoreline. It is a test of whether Mumbai can stop the slide after losing the first meeting at home while chasing a big total.
KKR, SRH and Gujarat Titans
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders have already split their season series in opposite directions. SRH opened their account against KKR in the first meeting, but KKR later exacted revenge with a win of their own, keeping that matchup level in the wider arc of Revenge Week.
Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans bring a similar edge. Rajasthan beat Gujarat in Ahmedabad by defending 15 off 12, even though Gujarat still lead the overall head-to-head 6-3. Their recent series is split 3-3, which makes every meeting matter more than the raw record suggests.
Shreyas Iyer's return against Gujarat
Shreyas Iyer gives the week another personal layer. Last year, he made his Punjab Kings debut against Gujarat Titans and missed his maiden IPL century by three runs. Since then, Punjab have won both games against Gujarat, while Gujarat have also found a win in the rivalry, so the scoreboard has stayed lively rather than settled.
Chopra said, “It's about momentum as much as points now, and in a contest like this, one good performance can completely reset a campaign.” That is the real shape of Revenge Week: not just old scores being revisited, but standings pressure, head-to-head baggage and the chance for one result to change how a team is viewed inside the tournament.
