Davey Todd Ruled Out of North West 200 After Medical Assessment

Davey Todd has been ruled out of this week’s North West 200 after a medical assessment on Tuesday morning, May 5, found him unfit to ride. The 2024 Senior TT winner was due to line up for 8TEN Racing BMW at the Northern Ireland road race, where he won four races last year.

Todd said he was “gutted and confused” after the decision, and he added: “I worked so hard over the last weeks to get fit and to come back and race in front of the fans here at the North West”. He had been aiming to return after a heavy crash at the Daytona 200 in March left him with a broken left femur, right tibia, right foot, nose and pelvis.

Valencia and Oulton Park

He spent six weeks in rehabilitation at Formula Medicine in Italy before getting back on a bike last week at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. Todd completed three test sessions there and said: “I rode a bike on Thursday for the first time at Valencia and I surprised myself with how fast I was going and how good I felt on the bike. Everything was slotting into place. I feel strong, feel healthier day by day and in a good place.”

He had also been seen in good spirits inside the British Superbike Championship paddock at Oulton Park during the Bank Holiday meeting, but the North West 200 assessment ended his return bid for now. Todd now plans to focus on trying to compete alongside Peter Hickman at the 2026 TT.
