Sanju Samson 87 Powers CSK Past DC — Delhi Capitals Vs Chennai Super Kings Match Scorecard

Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 87 off 52 balls drove Chennai Super Kings past Delhi Capitals in the delhi capitals vs chennai super kings match scorecard at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on 06 May 2026. Delhi, after winning the toss and batting first, were left with 155 and their sixth defeat of the IPL season.

Samson Takes Control

Samson stayed not out and turned a difficult chase into a one-sided finish for Chennai. His 87 lifted his aggregate against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026 to 202 runs, with the wicketkeeper-batter also sitting on 115 not out earlier in the season against the same opponent.

Delhi’s innings never pushed far beyond the par line Axar Patel believed they needed. He said 155 felt useful on the surface, but added that his side were about 10-15 runs short after choosing to bat first.

Axar Patel Reads the Surface

Patel’s assessment pointed to a pitch that changed as the game moved on. He said the surface was not easy to bat on at the start, and that length balls were holding up, sometimes staying low, and occasionally bouncing after holding.

That matched the split he described between the two innings. Set batters looked far more secure once they settled, while new batters found the pace and bounce harder to read.

“Obviously, the way the wicket was playing in the first innings, I felt that yes, 155 was a good score. But since we were playing with eight batters, I felt we were about 10-15 runs short. (on the pitch) I feel it got a little better, but I think the difference was made by the set batter. When a batter is well set, it feels like there is nothing in the pitch, but I still feel there was something in it,” Patel said after the match.

Delhi Capitals’ Slide

Delhi Capitals have now lost four of their last five matches and won one in that span. The result leaves them with six defeats in the ongoing IPL season, a number that sharpens the pressure on every remaining game.

Patel’s other reading of the evening was just as pointed. “For a new batter coming in, it was not easy. Yes, it wasn’t easy for new players because, you know, the length balls were holding up, sometimes staying low, and occasionally even bouncing after holding. So I feel it was very difficult for new batters. But when set batters were playing, it looked easier,” he said.

For Delhi, the scoreline offered little margin for comfort: 155, a 10-15 run shortfall in their captain’s view, and another defeat added to a run that has tightened the race around them.
