Wayne Rooney Backs Arsenal To Win Three Straight Premier League Games

wayne rooney backed Arsenal to win the Premier League title after Manchester City were held to a 3-3 draw by Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. He said Arsenal will win all three of their remaining league games, turning City’s dropped points into a major swing in the title race.

Rooney on Arsenal’s run

Rooney said on his podcast: “It was a tough game for Man City, I always thought it was a game they could slip up,” and added, “I think Arsenal win all of their games and that’s why I’ve been strong on this and think they win the league.”

He also said, “This was the game I thought Man City might drop points,” before sharpening the point further: “But I think Arsenal win the title, I think they win every game. It’s not over but I do think they win every game and I hope they do to be honest.”

City’s comeback was not enough

Manchester City had been hoping to cut Arsenal’s lead to three points, but the draw left them still chasing. Everton had turned the match around after falling behind, moving 3-1 ahead through Thierno Barry’s quickfire brace and Jake O’Brien’s header before Erling Haaland’s 25th Premier League goal of the season and Jeremy Doku’s strike earned City a point.

The result left Arsenal with a five-point lead and a superior goal difference, while Rooney pointed to the contrast between the two sides when he said, “Arsenal have been consistent with their performances whereas Man City can be pretty up and down.”

West Ham, Burnley, Crystal Palace

Rooney named Arsenal’s final three league fixtures as West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace, and said, “I really like Mikel Arteta, people have criticised Arsenal and the way they play but I like it and how they’ve gone about their business.” He added, “I hope they win it for Arteta and the work he’s put in over the past five years.”

Arsenal visit West Ham on Sunday, with Manchester City welcoming Brentford to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. Rooney’s view puts the pressure on Arsenal to finish the job across those three matches, with City now needing results elsewhere to reopen the race.
