Carbonneau, Zonnon Force Game 7 in Qmjhl Playoffs

The qmjhl playoffs are headed to Game 7, with the Moncton Wildcats and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada set to settle their semifinal Tuesday night at the Den. Justin Carbonneau and Bill Zonnon pushed the series the full distance with the last-second goal that forced one more game, and the winner will move on to the QMJHL Final.

Carbonneau and Zonnon extend it

Carbonneau has 3 goals and 2 assists in the series, while Zonnon has 1 goal and 3 assists. Their latest connection came at the perfect moment for the Armada, turning a series that had already swung back and forth into a single-game decider.

The Armada have scored 17 goals through six games. Mael Lavigne has 5 of them, Spencer Gill has 4 assists, and former Cat Vincent Collard has 2 assists. Zach Pelletier stepped in after William Lacelle went down in Game 5 and was named First Star on Sunday.

Wildcats scoring depth

Moncton has answered with 23 goals in the series, and the scoring has spread across the lineup. Tommy Bleyl has 9 points, Gabe Smith has 8, Teddy Mutryn has 7, and Kuzma Voronin has 6.

Bleyl’s season line is 13 goals, 68 assists and 81 points. Caleb Desnoyers has 22 goals, 56 assists and 78 points, while Smith has 34 goals, 43 assists and 77 points. That depth has kept the Wildcats in position to force one more night of hockey despite the series’ constant shifts in control.

Rudy Guimond backstops Moncton

Rudy Guimond made 34 saves in Sunday’s Game 6 loss and still drew second-star honors. His series has tracked with a 40-7 record, a 2.27 goals-against average and a.922 save percentage, numbers that have kept Moncton close even as the Armada found the late finish they needed.

Tuesday night leaves no margin. One team will leave the Den as the semifinal winner and the other will stop at six games after a series that has already featured lead changes, rallies and a last-second finish.
