Kate to visit Reggio Emilia on 13 and 14 May

Catherine, Princess of Wales, will travel to reggio emilia on 13 and 14 May for a solo official visit centered on early childhood. It will be her first official trip to Italy and her first visit abroad since her illness.

Kensington Palace and Reggio Emilia Approach

The trip links her work with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, launched in 2021.

Teachers, parents and children

During the visit, Catherine will meet teachers, parents, children, administrators and representatives from the business world. The visit is part of a high-level mission to gather information on major international approaches that support young children, educators, teachers and adults, and it follows the Centre for Early Childhood’s launch of the Shaping Us Framework in February 2025.

Royal Foundation early years focus

Catherine has invested energy in early childhood work since launching the plan with the Royal Foundation. She discussed her “Early years” project with Jill Biden during the G7 of 2021 in Cornwall, and the Reggio Emilia trip gives her another chance to study a model described as placing relationships, environment and community at the center of child development.
