James Dunbar Jr Charged With Capital Murder After Infant's Death

James Dunbar Jr was charged with Capital Murder after the death of his infant child in Conway, Arkansas. The Conway Police Department upgraded the charge after the child died a week after officers were called to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Conway Hospital Response

Officers were called to a Conway hospital on April 24 for a reported infant who had sustained life-threatening injuries. Police and investigators began working the case after that call, and Dunbar was taken into custody and jailed at the detention center.

Earlier Charges Against Dunbar

Before the death, Dunbar faced Domestic Battery in the First Degree, Felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor in the First Degree, 3 Felony counts. The later Capital Murder charge followed the infant's death after receiving medical care.

Charge Upgrade After Death

The upgrade changed the case from assault-related allegations to the most serious charge named in the police announcement. For the child’s family, the case now moves forward under a capital murder allegation tied to the infant’s death, not just the initial injuries.
