Chennai reached 159-2 with 15 balls to spare after Delhi were limited to 155-7, a result that kept Chennai in the playoff race with three wins in their last four games.

Samson carried the chase, and Kartik Sharma finished unbeaten on 41 off 31 balls as the pair put on 114 runs. Chennai lost Ruturaj Gaikwad early when he was caught at deep square leg for 6, but Samson settled the innings and kept the target under control until the finish.
The opener said after the match, "They are calling me ‘Cheetah’ but I like Sanju more". He also said, "I have been working a bit on my initial movement and it has been coming off. I had to be a bit too selfish to get a hundred so I thought let's win the game... finishing not out, winning the game gives you more satisfaction."
Delhi Capitals at 155-7
Delhi reached 69-5 before Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi added 65 runs to steady the innings. Rizvi top-scored with 40 off 24 balls, while Stubbs, who was dropped on 2, helped force Chennai into more work than the early collapse suggested.
Axar Patel said, "We were 10-15 runs short and the wicket got a little better to bat on later in the game". He added, "It wasn’t easy for new batters to get set, but with set batters they were able to take the game away."

Chennai’s bowlers set the chase up by holding Delhi to 155-7. Noor Ahmad took 2-22 and Akeal Hosein returned 1-19, while Mitchell Starc finished with 0-30 and Kuldeep Yadav with 0-34 for Delhi.
The result left Chennai sixth with 10 points from five wins and five losses, while Delhi sat seventh with four wins in 10 games. Samson has now scored two centuries this season for his new franchise, a marker that gives Chennai a top-order option they can keep building around while the table stays tight.
