Mikey Moore Wins PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year

Mikey Moore won Men’s Young Player of the Year at the PFA Scotland awards on Sunday evening, adding another marker to an 18-year-old season that already stood out at Rangers. The Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder was rewarded for a loan spell that produced six goals in 44 appearances.

Moore, Rangers and the award race

Moore beat Falkirk’s Barney Stewart, Findlay Marshall of Arbroath and Dundee’s Luke Graham for the prize. His form across the season set him apart in a field that included three other young players who had also built strong cases for the award.

The numbers explain why he was chosen. Six goals in 44 games is a solid return for an attacking midfielder, and it came during a loan spell at Rangers rather than in a settled run at his parent club.

Sunday evening in Scotland

The award landed at the PFA Scotland ceremony on Sunday evening, after a season in which Moore had already shown he could carry his form into senior football. He had previously shone in Tottenham Hotspur’s Academy set-up in recent years, but this prize reflects what he did over the course of the campaign in Scotland.

That makes the context simple for Rangers and for Tottenham. Rangers got the output that helped shape Moore’s season, while Tottenham now have an 18-year-old midfielder returning with senior minutes, goals and an individual award on his record.

Hearts defeat on Monday

Moore’s latest outing came in a 2-1 defeat at Hearts on Monday afternoon, a result that all-but extinguished Danny Rohl’s side’s title hopes. The timing leaves his award sitting beside a disappointing finish for the team, with the final league stretch offering little margin for recovery.

For Moore, though, the season is already marked by a clear statistical line: 44 appearances, six goals and a major individual prize. That is the sort of return that gives a loan spell weight beyond the headline result, and it gives Rangers a young player whose season translated into silverware at the end of it.
