Indiana Fever Waived Players: 3 Guards Cut Before May 8

Indiana Fever waived players Megan McConnell, Jessica Timmons and Kayana Traylor on May 6, trimming the roster to 13 with two days left before the 2026 WNBA regular season begins. The move pushed Indiana closer to the league limit of 12 players, with one more cut needed before tip-off.

McConnell Timmons Traylor

Indiana said, “we have waived Megan McConnell, Jessica Timmons and Kayana Traylor.” McConnell, Timmons and Traylor were all guards, and the Fever also moved 2026 draft pick Justine Pissott to a developmental pool spot.

McConnell arrived in Indiana on a training camp contract after playing in Australia for the Bendigo Spirit. She played one game for the Phoenix Mercury in 2025, logged 13 minutes and later suffered a season-ending tibial plateau fracture. In preseason with Indiana, she did not score.

Timmons was selected 40th overall in last month’s rookie draft. She averaged 16.3 points per game in her final collegiate season at Alabama and scored 16 points in three preseason games, but that did not secure a spot on a roster already getting cut to size.

Kayana Traylor’s Path

Traylor was the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft and played eight games for the Minnesota Lynx that season. She added 22 points, two assists and one rebound across three preseason games with Indiana, after previous professional stops in France and Israel.

Those numbers did not change the roster math. WNBA teams can carry up to 12 players under the collective bargaining agreement, and they have up to 48 hours to make a waiver claim if they see a fit. If no team claims a player, that player reaches unrestricted free agency and can sign with any organization.

Fever Roster Math

The Fever’s cuts came as they tried to balance the group behind Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell while getting down to the league maximum. The immediate question for McConnell, Timmons and Traylor is whether another team uses the waiver window or lets them move on to free agency.

For Indiana, the roster squeeze is still not finished. The team is already at 13 players, and one more move has to come before the opener on May 8.
