Lexus Teases May 7 Reveal for Lexus Tz Three-Row EV

Lexus will reveal its first three-row electric SUV on May 7, 2026, at 10:30 AM JST. The teaser points to the Lexus tz, which would give the brand a battery-powered model in a segment it does not yet occupy. Lexus said the unveiling will show “something new.”

The timing gives buyers and competitors a set date to watch. Lexus currently offers the TX as its three-row SUV, but that model comes in gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid versions, not electric powertrains.

Lexus Teaser on Sunday

Lexus posted a social media teaser on Sunday that appeared to show the larger SUV. The prototype has also been spotted testing in Europe for the first time ahead of its expected debut later this year or in early 2027.

The vehicle is expected to use two battery pack options, 77 kWh and 95.8 kWh. Those packs are expected to provide up to 287 miles and 320 miles of range, while the model itself is expected to start around $60,000.

Toyota Patent and Platform

Toyota filed a patent with the European Union Intellectual Property Office in 2023 for the names Lexus TZ 450e and Lexus TZ 550e. The SUV will be based on the same modified version of Toyota’s TNGA-K platform that underpins the Highlander EV, and Toyota said the platform is engineered to optimize interior space and efficiency.

Images from Autoevolution show slight design changes from the Toyota Highlander EV, including the signature Lexus spindle grille. The prototype is covered in camouflage.

Three-Row EV Competition

The Lexus TZ would enter a three-row electric SUV field that already includes the Hyundai IONIQ 9, Lucid Gravity, Rivian R1S, Kia EV9, Volvo EX90, and Cadillac Vistiq. Toyota revealed the Highlander BEV in February 2026, and that model is expected to go on sale later this year at around $50,000.

For buyers comparing family-size EVs, the May 7 reveal is the point when Lexus is expected to show how far it has moved toward a more upscale sibling to the electric Highlander. The first full look should also answer how closely the production model follows the testing prototype and the range figures tied to its two battery options.
