Dragons Block Early Jaydn Su A Exit Until 2026 Season Ends

Jaydn Su'A will stay at St George Illawarra through the end of the season, with the Dragons ruling out an early exit for the suspended second-rower. The decision keeps jaydn su a in place despite Parramatta's interest before the June 30 trade deadline and a campaign the club is still trying to salvage.

Parramatta Eels’ June 30 push

The Eels had asked about bringing Su'A in early, but the Dragons have shut that down and will keep him until the end of the year. He has already signed a deal with Parramatta starting from the beginning of 2027, so the move now is simply off the table for this season.

That leaves Parramatta to deal with its own forward shortages without an immediate addition. Matt Doorey and J'maine Hopgood have been among the injuries driving that inquiry, and Su'A's exit would have filled a hole in a pack that has been stretched.

Dean Young keeps Su'A

For the Dragons, the call fits a season in which they are trying to squeeze value out of the players they still have. Dean Young has young forwards such as Ryan Couchman and Dylan Egan available or returning, and Luciano Leilua is part of the group the club is leaning on as it searches for something from a poor campaign inherited from Shane Flanagan.

Su'A is also suspended and will only be eligible to return after Magic Round, which means the Dragons are holding a senior forward through a spell when he cannot help them on the field. Even so, the club has chosen not to trade away the rest of his 2026 season, preferring to keep a Queensland State of Origin representative in the squad until he leaves on his existing schedule.

For readers tracking the roster, the immediate answer is simple: Su'A is not going anywhere early. Parramatta will have to wait until 2027, and St George Illawarra will finish this season with one less outside option to consider, but one more experienced body left in the room for a club still fighting to salvage points.
