Bbc Scotland reports 24 CCTV images after Old Firm disorder

scotland reports police have released 24 CCTV images of people they want to trace after disorder following the Old Firm match at Ibrox on March 8. The appeal comes after violence that led to 20 arrests and an investigation known as Operation Moonglint.

Police said the images may help identify people linked to disorder that followed Celtic's penalty win over Rangers in the Scottish Cup. Anyone who recognises someone in the pictures has been asked to contact police quoting incident number 0899 of March 8, 2026, or use the Major Incident Public Portal to send information, images and footage.

Ibrox on March 8

The disorder began after Celtic knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup on penalties at Ibrox on March 8. During the violence, officers, supporters, members of coaching staff and players were assaulted, and items including pyrotechnics were thrown by supporters.

A ten-year-old child was struck by a coin during the disorder. That detail sits alongside the arrests already made and the latest public appeal, which gives police another route to identify people they are still looking to trace.

Operation Moonglint appeal

Police said the 24 images were released on Thursday as part of ongoing enquiries. People with information can call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, and information can also be sent directly to the investigation team.

The appeal is aimed at people who may be able to assist with enquiries, and the practical step for anyone who recognises someone in the images is straightforward: pass on names, images or footage through the channels police listed. The 20 arrests already made show the case is moving through both identification and enforcement at the same time.
