Bradford Election Results: Voters Choose Three Candidates on 7 May

Bradford election results will follow voting under way in the city on Thursday, 7 May, as residents take part in England's local elections. Polling stations across Yorkshire opened for registered voters between 07:00 and 22:00 BST.

In Bradford's all-out elections, voters could choose three candidates for their ward. Counting was expected to begin on Friday, 8 May, with results due later that day and all counts expected by Saturday.

Yorkshire polling stations

The vote covered polling stations across Yorkshire, placing Bradford inside a wider local elections day that included more than 5,000 seats across 136 local authorities and six mayoral races. Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield were holding all-out elections, while a third of council seats were up for election in Sheffield and Leeds.

For Bradford voters, the practical step was straightforward: go to a polling station, show photo ID and cast a ballot for up to three candidates in the ward. The photo ID requirement applied across England at the local elections, including a passport or driving licence.

Bradford ward ballots

All-out elections mean every seat in the ward is part of the same contest, rather than a smaller partial vote. In Bradford, that gives each voter three choices on the ballot and feeds directly into the full council result for the area.

The result sequence is fixed from here. Counting starts on Friday, 8 May, the first announcements are due later that day, and the full set of results should be in by Saturday.

Friday count in Bradford

That timetable leaves Bradford voters waiting only a short time after polls close at 22:00 BST. Anyone who voted on Thursday will find out the outcome once counting begins on Friday and the ward totals are declared later in the day.
