Barnet Council links Golders Green stabbings to alleged South London attack
barnet council is at the center of a case involving Essa Suleiman, who authorities say allegedly attacked Ishmail Hussein in South London last Wednesday before traveling eight miles to Golders Green. There, he allegedly stabbed two random Jewish men in religious garb, ages 34 and 76.
The two men were hospitalized and survived. Surveillance video showed one Jewish man standing next to a bus shelter and adjusting his yarmulke before he was pummeled and stabbed repeatedly, with his skullcap falling into the street and drifting away in the wind.
Golders Green attack details
Authorities say Suleiman did not know the two men he stabbed in Golders Green. The attack was the third in five weeks in the same Jewish community, after multiple synagogues in Golders Green were targeted by arsonists this past month and another Jewish institution was targeted as well.
The month prior, four ambulances owned by Hatzola were set on fire and destroyed. Last week, Hatzola medics used their remaining resources to treat the victims of the Golders Green stabbing attack.
Community Security Trust figures
In February, the Community Security Trust said it had recorded over 200 cases of anti-Jewish hate in every calendar month in 2025. Ben Judah, an author and former adviser to the British government, posted that “British Jews are super concentrated in NW London,” adding, “There are only 250k of us.”
He also wrote, “Roughly around 100k of us live in this area and surrounding areas,” and, “It’s like a small town that’s now under sustained attack.” Those figures place the Golders Green attacks in a community where Jewish residents are described as concentrated in northwest London.
Manchester synagogue attack
The Golders Green violence came after Jihad al-Shamie drove his car into a Manchester synagogue in October and began stabbing worshippers. One person was killed in the subsequent crossfire with police.
For people in Golders Green, the immediate issue is not only the assault on two men but the pattern around it: repeated attacks, damaged community resources, and a police case that links South London to a second stabbing eight miles away.
