Tesla Adds Frost Blue and Marine Blue to Model 3 and Y — Tesla New Colors
Tesla new colors arrived in North America when the company updated its online configurator to add Frost Blue and Marine Blue for the Model 3 and Model Y. Buyers now face a split menu: some trims get the shades at no extra charge, while others pay $1,000 USD.
Model 3 and Model Y trims
Marine Blue is now available on the Model 3 and Model Y RWD and AWD Premium trims. Those buyers will see a $1,000 USD premium on the configurator. Standard, or non-Premium, models remain limited to Stealth Grey, Pearl White, and Diamond Black.
Frost Blue now appears on the Model 3 and Model Y Performance. North American buyers of those Performance versions do not see an additional premium for the color. Tesla is bundling all exterior and interior color options into the Performance promotions, which makes the paint choice part of the trim deal rather than a separate upcharge.
Tesla and the blue paint split
Marine Blue had already been sold in Europe and Asia-Pacific before reaching North America. Frost Blue had already appeared on the Model S and Model X. Tesla sold Frost Blue on those larger models from June 2025 to April 2026, before those vehicles were discontinued.
The update also leaves one blue paint option still tied to a region. Glacier Blue remains limited to buyers in Asia-Pacific markets. That means North American shoppers still do not have the full blue palette Tesla has used elsewhere.
Canada and Model Y Performance
Canada is the awkward case in this rollout. Tesla is importing the Model Y Performance directly from Gigafactory Berlin for Canada because recent government tariffs changed how it sources vehicles for that market.
Canadian Model Y Performance buyers cannot currently select Frost Blue. They can choose Marine Blue, and Tesla is offering that color as an included, zero-dollar option on imported Canadian Model Y Performance units. The Canadian Model 3 Performance is handled differently because it is still imported from the United States, and that version does have access to Frost Blue.
For shoppers, the practical takeaway is simple: the new blue choices are not treated the same across trims or borders. A U.S. buyer can treat Frost Blue and Marine Blue as configurator updates, while a Canadian Model Y Performance buyer has to work around sourcing rules that change which paint choice is available at checkout.
