Daniel Ricciardo Indy 500 Plans Set Later This Month

Daniel Ricciardo will attend the daniel ricciardo indy 500 later this month, and he says the trip will land differently after stepping away from professional racing. He has not raced since the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix and has said he has retired, but the Indianapolis visit folds his past and present together.

Ricciardo and Conor Daly

Ricciardo discussed the plan on Conor Daly's Speed Street podcast and said, "What you've told me about Indy 500, I've probably never been more excited since I was a kid to go to a race and just be a fan at a race," He added, "This sounds like... I think it's going to really hit me hard. I'm excited to be a fan."

He also said, "To experience it in the way you speak about it, you've done the European thing, you've travelled the world racing." Daly will race for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing at this year's Indianapolis 500, and Ricciardo's wine will be advertised during the event in collaboration with him.

Ford Racing and Racing Plans

Ricciardo said he is now focusing on other projects, including being an ambassador of Ford Racing and launching his own wine. The Indianapolis 500 will take place on May 24, just a handful of hours before the Canadian Grand Prix, which puts his attendance in the middle of one of the busiest stretches on the racing calendar.

The visit also has a family thread. Ricciardo said he and his father had started talking about the Indianapolis 500, and that his father has always wanted to do it and always wanted to go to the race.

That is why the trip carries more weight than a simple appearance. Ricciardo said, "I was like, 'well, let's do it in 2026, let's go to the race'," and later framed the upcoming visit as something he expects to feel deeply when he is in the stands rather than behind the wheel.
