Cosm and Fox Sports Add 40 Fifa World Cup 2026 Matches
Cosm and Fox Sports will bring 40 fifa world cup 2026 matches to Cosm’s shared-reality facilities in Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta. The deal puts all three U.S. men’s team group-stage matches into those venues, along with two of Mexico’s three group games, as the World Cup moves into a setting built around 87-foot-diameter, 12K+ LED domes.
Michael Bucklin on Cosm’s draw
Michael Bucklin said, “We see this space exploding right now,” and called Cosm “the best seat in the house at any event you ever want to go to.” He also said, “We want to make big events feel bigger. We want to give fans access, and this is a great combination of both of those things.”
The package reaches beyond the group stage. It includes 11 group-stage matches, the majority of the initial knockout matches, and the full slate of remaining matches in the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and final. Cosm will capture and produce the World Cup at host venues, then send live matches back to its domes and provide Fox a feed for television use.
Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta
The three Cosm facilities can fit around 1,200 fans, with reserved dome areas in Dallas and Los Angeles set for 350 each. Atlanta’s reserved area is expected to hold closer to 500 fans, and Cosm Atlanta sits next to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which will host eight matches.
Dallas adds another operational edge because the facility is close to the World Cup’s International Broadcast Center. The USMNT plays its first match at SoFi Stadium right next to a Cosm, giving the Los Angeles site a direct tie to one of the tournament’s most watched fixtures.
What Fox is testing
Fox and Cosm will also use a live camera to show reactions from Cosm venues during matches. Bucklin said, “Fans like to see the fandom around major events,” and Peter Murphy said FIFA officials have visited Cosm venues and seen what the setup can do. Murphy added, “We’ve benefited from them visiting those cities, coming to Cosm, experiencing it themselves. … They’ve got a strong desire and enthusiasm toward innovation, and so this allows them, along with their partner Fox, to exploit that and do something new that hasn’t been done before, because we didn’t exist for the last World Cup.”
Cosm’s three facilities open the day before the World Cup starts, so the first live matches will arrive as the venues are turning on for the tournament. For fans, the practical result is simple: three cities, one match package, and a long run of World Cup games available inside one shared-reality format.
