Paul Farman Extends Swansea Deal Through 2026-27
Paul Farman extended his Swansea City contract on May 8, 2026, keeping the 36-year-old goalkeeper in the squad for next season after spending this campaign on the bench. swansea had not used him in a match, but he was part of the group for five domestic fixtures and then made the Championship squad for the final game of the season against Charlton Athletic.
Farman Stays At Swansea City
Farman said he had loved his time at Swansea and was “over the moon” to stay next season. He added that the chance to work with coaches and players at such a high level had been one he had relished, and that he was already looking forward to getting back to work when pre-season starts.
He also pointed to the setup at Fairwood, saying the facilities and expertise of the staff were “right up there with the very best I have experienced in my career.” For a player who had not yet made his debut, the new deal keeps a veteran option in place while Swansea continue into the 2026-27 season with a squad member who has already been around the group all year.
Lincoln City To Swansea City
Farman arrived after leaving Barrow last summer, and his career has already included long spells in the lower divisions. He joined Lincoln City permanently in 2012, became first choice in his debut campaign, and played 28 league games in the 2014-15 season, when he won the club’s Player of the Season award.
He later helped Lincoln City win the National League and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup before joining Stevenage in the summer of 2018. He also spent seven years in the fourth tier with Carlisle United and Barrow, so Swansea have kept an experienced goalkeeper who has spent much of his career around first-team football even though his own minutes at the club have been limited.
Bench Role And Spot-Kick Loss
This season brought squad involvement rather than appearances. Farman was named on the bench for all five of Swansea City’s domestic fixtures, including the run to the fourth round of the League Cup and the FA Cup tie that ended in a penalty shootout loss to West Bromwich Albion.
Josh Griffiths, another former Lincoln player, saved a spot-kick for West Bromwich Albion in that shootout. Farman’s place in the matchday picture only grew at the end of the season, when he was included in a Championship squad for the first time against Charlton Athletic.
His next job is clear enough: keep pressing for a debut while staying inside a group he says has a lot of positivity around it. Swansea’s decision locks in a 6ft 5 goalkeeper who has already spent the year in the squad, not outside it, and gives them continuity heading into 2026-27.
