Mathis Eboue Shortlisted After 11 Goals and Five Assists
Mathis Eboue has been shortlisted for the 2025/26 Premier League Under-18 Player of the Season award after finishing the season with 11 goals and five assists for Chelsea. The nomination puts the academy forward among eight young players in contention for a league-level youth award.
Chelsea’s Eboue and Ezenwata
Eboue’s numbers were enough to earn him a place on the eight-man list selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel. He signed his first professional contract after his 17th birthday in February this year, then backed that milestone with a season that produced 16 goal involvements.
Chelsea has two players in the field, with Chizaram Ezenwata also nominated after scoring 15 times and adding seven assists. That leaves the club with a strong presence in a race that spans several academy systems rather than a single team.
Premier League academy nominees
Joseph Junior Gabriel joins the list after scoring 20 goals in 21 league appearances for Manchester United’s U18s. Teddie Lamb is there after producing 18 goals and four assists for Manchester City, while Joshua Sonni-Lambie netted 16 times for Liverpool’s U18s.
The rest of the field includes Albert Mills, Joe Roberts and Tyler Tingey. Tingey’s case comes from the defensive side of the pitch, where he produced 24 blocks and 26 interceptions.
Tuesday 12 May decision
The winner will be announced at the Premier League Youth Development Conference on Tuesday 12 May. For Chelsea, the shortlist gives Eboue a league-wide platform after a season that began with a first professional contract and ended with him among eight players under consideration for the award.
