Rockville reopens Daytona Beach gates after 7:45 p.m. weather alert

Welcome to Rockville reopened its daytona beach gates shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday after severe weather forced organizers to pause the festival heading into the region. Attendees who had been directed to shelter were able to return once the alert expired around 7:45 p.m.

Friday’s shelter instructions

Organizers first told visitors to calmly proceed to the nearest exit when the severe weather alert was issued for Northeastern Volusia County shortly before 7 p.m. Campers were told to return to the campgrounds and shelter in their vehicle.

People who had parked were instructed to exit the venue and take shelter in their vehicle or in the grandstands at the Turn 1 Entrance. All other attendees were told to exit and seek shelter in the grandstands.

Gates reopened after 8:30 p.m.

The alert expired around 7:45 p.m., and organizers announced shortly after 8:30 p.m. that the gates were reopened. They said performances would resume shortly after the reopening.

For campers, parked visitors, and other attendees, the change meant a return from shelter instructions to normal festival access within the same evening. The sequence left the pause brief, but it also showed how quickly the event shifted between evacuation steps and reopening once the weather alert ended.
