Katie Mccabe Could Win New Arsenal Deal Before Season's End

Arsenal are considering offering katie mccabe a new contract with three games left in the season. Her current deal runs to the end of the season, and the shift would come after earlier expectation that she would leave when it expired.

McCabe and Arsenal

Katie McCabe has recently been used with success at left centre-back against Chelsea and Lyon. That run has helped alter Arsenal's stance at a point when the club is juggling several contract calls, not just one.

The change in thinking matters because McCabe had previously looked set to depart. Interest from Manchester City, Chelsea and the NWSL had been linked with her, and the earlier line was that no talks had taken place and the likely outcome was a summer exit.

Beth Mead and Caitlin Foord

Arsenal's wider contract picture is already active. Kathryn Batte also reported that Caitlin Foord and Beth Mead have been offered new deals, while Arseblog News reported on April 28 that Arsenal were willing to make Mead an offer to stay at the club and that Manchester City were likely to offer her a longer deal.

On the same day, Arseblog News said Foord was also out of contract this summer and that the club would prefer not to lose both wingers in one summer. That leaves Arsenal trying to hold together key pieces of the squad while the season is still live.

Arsenal's season plan

For Arsenal, the immediate question is how far the club is prepared to go to keep McCabe after she has already shown she can help in more than one role. A new deal would also fit a broader effort to avoid losing senior players at the same time, with only three games left before the season ends.

If Arsenal follow through, McCabe's future would move from likely departure to a decision on a player who has already proved useful in a left centre-back role and remains under contract pressure heading into the final stretch.
