The victory was Lundgaard’s second career INDYCAR win and his first since July 16, 2023, when he took the Honda Indy Toronto. The result put him back in the winner’s column after nearly three years without a victory.
Malukas finished second in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, and Graham Rahal took third in the No. 15 Fifth Third Bank Honda. Josef Newgarden crossed in fourth in the No. 2 Astemo Team Penske Chevrolet, with Alex Palou fifth in the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.
Alex Palou And The Top Five
Palou entered the 85-lap race as the NTT P1 Award winner and had led every session he was on track that weekend before the race began. That made Lundgaard’s finish harder to ignore, because the pole winner still left with fifth place while the driver who had not won since 2023 controlled the final margin.
The top five also showed how tight the field stayed behind the winner. Rahal, Newgarden and Palou all finished within the same lead lap order, but none could close the gap once Lundgaard opened it to 4.6713 seconds.
Arrow McLaren At IMS
For Arrow McLaren, the payoff was simple: the No. 7 car turned a long drought into a second career victory for its driver. For Lundgaard, the win changes the season’s shape immediately, because it ends the wait and resets the conversation around where he belongs in the series after a nearly three-year gap between victories.
