UFC 328 Press Conference Starts Around 1 A.M. ET — Mma Junkie

mma junkie says the UFC 328 post-fight press conference is set to begin around 1 a.m. ET, about 30 minutes after the main event ends in Newark, N.J. That makes it the last piece of business after the action wraps in the Octagon, with bonuses and fighter media duties still to come.

Sean Strickland in Newark

Sean Strickland regained the title in the UFC 328 main event on Saturday, with Khamzat Chimaev on the other side of the middleweight championship fight in Newark, N.J. The press conference follows that result and closes out the night with the people who fought at the center of it.

UFC officials will announce the Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses there, and winning fighters will meet the media after their fights. Dana White is also expected to wrap up the event and discuss the standouts from the card during his media scrum.

UFC 328 bonus window

That timing keeps the final official media event close to the end of the card, instead of pushing it deep into the night. For fighters who just came through main-card action, the press conference is where the result and the immediate fallout are handled in one place.

Alexander Volkov stopped Waldo Cortes-Acosta's win streak in their heavyweight fight at UFC 328, while Sean Brady got back on track with a suffocating performance over Joaquin Buckley. The card also featured the Joshua Van vs. Tatsuro Taira flyweight championship co-main event and the heavyweight bout between Volkov and Cortes-Acosta, all part of the same Saturday slate in Newark.

White and the UFC card

Josh Hokit also seemed to get into it with anybody nearby, including UFC light heavyweight Paulo Costa, adding another sharp edge to the night before the media session begins. Once the main event is over, the press conference becomes the final stop for the fighters who decided the card and for White, who is set to finish the night by sorting through the biggest performances.
