Brad Franko Details 1,120-Customer Centerpoint Outage in Mount Pleasant
Mount Pleasant police said a centerpoint outage early Thursday left about 1,120 customers without power after a tree fell on utility lines off Highway 41. Dominion Energy later said power was restored at 7:18 a.m.
Highway 41 traffic
Brad Franko, the Mount Pleasant Police Department PIO, said Highway 41 southbound was blocked while Dominion Energy crews worked to clear the fallen tree. Police also said crews were still working to restore power after a tree fell on utility lines early Thursday.
Dominion Energy's outage map showed about 1,120 customers without power as of 5 a.m. Some residents living along Highway 41 and Highway 17 were without power Thursday morning, and people were told to use caution in the area.
Signals at Highway 17
The outage also affected traffic lights at Highway 17 at 41, Highway 17 at Winnowing, and Highway 41 at Bessemer. Traffic on Highway 41 was moving as of 6:55 a.m., but the lights were still out.
By 7:18 a.m., Dominion Energy said service had been restored. That left the disrupted traffic signals as the main remaining issue for drivers passing through the intersection area during the morning commute.
