Hull Kingston Rovers beat Warrington 32-12 to reach Wembley final
Hull kingston rovers beat Warrington 32-12 on Sunday afternoon in Doncaster to reach the Challenge Cup final. The reigning holders will face Wigan at Wembley in three weeks after both semi-finals were decided by defence.
Lewis and May Break Through
Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May caused havoc throughout the match as Hull KR pulled away from Warrington. The half-back pairing kept the pressure on and helped turn the semi-final into a 32-12 win, with the scoreline underlining how cleanly Hull KR handled the key moments.
Willie Peters had his side focused on Wigan before kick-off, and his team backed that up by controlling the game at the important end of the field. He said, “We spoke about Wigan’s performance before the game.”
Peters Leans on Defence
The coach pointed to the way both semi-finals were settled, after Wigan beat St Helens 32-0 on Saturday. Peters said, “Defence wins big games, and both big games were won on defence.”
That leaves Wembley with a familiar matchup. Hull KR and Wigan have met in the past two Super League grand finals, winning one apiece, and both clubs have won a treble in the past two seasons. Wigan swept the board in 2024, while Hull KR won all three trophies on offer last year.
For Hull KR, the final brings another shot at silverware after a February World Club Challenge win over Brisbane and an early-season trip to Las Vegas. For Wigan, it sets up another meeting with a rival they know well, and Peters framed it simply: “There’s a lot of respect between both clubs but at the end of the day we both want to win,”.
