Swatch Teases May 16 Reveal, Raising Swatch X Audemars Piguet Royal Pop Questions

Swatch teased a possible swatch x audemars piguet royal pop release for May 16 with abstract imagery and a website clue reading “WONDER” and “...x Swatch.” The date appeared on two ads that echoed the company’s earlier MoonSwatch rollout. The brand behind the teaser was not named.

May 16 Teaser

carried a pair of adverts on Saturday that used abstract visuals and a date to point toward the reveal. One showed evenly spaced dots with a crescent form punctured by circular cut-outs. The other used layered blocks of pink and black, with shapes that looked like stylised screws or jewels.

Swatch’s website added another signal. It showed the word “WONDER” in a comic-book style typeface next to the legend “...x Swatch.” That wording left open the central question in the teaser: which name, if any, sits before the x.

MoonSwatch Pattern

The new hints recalled the full-page ads Swatch used ahead of the original Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch launch in 2022. Around two million units are thought to have been sold since that release, and the line has since grown to 36 models across multiple drops.

The MoonSwatch range moved beyond the original 11 planet-inspired watches to include Moonshine Gold editions, Snoopy moonphase versions and Mission on Earth and Earthphase releases. The most recent model, Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold “Cold Moon,” ceased production in March.

Breguet And Other Names

The teaser imagery leans toward movement architecture, including plates, bridges, screws and cut-outs. Breguet fits those visual cues because it is known for exposed mechanics and engine-turned dials, particularly in the Tradition line.

Even so, Breguet would be an unexpected choice for a mass Swatch rollout. Jaquet Droz and Harry Winston are also possible names, but they raise similar questions about scale and audience. ads may also have nothing to do with watches, and the article raises the possibility that they could be for Specsavers.

For buyers, the practical signal is simple: Swatch has set May 16 as the date to watch, but the teaser still leaves the partner unspoken. Until that reveal lands, the only firm read is that the company is again using ambiguity, not a named product launch, to drive attention.
