American Airlines' hub status at Dallas-Fort Worth pushed the carrier to the top of the cancellation list. It had 231 cancellations on Sunday, or 6% of its volume, along with 1,028 delays. The airline also updated its travel alerts page for flights to, through and from Dallas Fort Worth Airport and offered flexible rebooking options while waiving exchange fees because of the disruption.

American removed the flexible rebooking offer from its website and said it was no longer valid as of May 11. On Monday morning, the carrier still led the world in cancellations, with 87 flight cancellations and 53 delays, while United Airlines had 10 cancellations.

For passengers booked through Dallas-Fort Worth, the immediate issue is whether their trip moved from Sunday into Monday.
