Jeff Ross Turns Rolex Roast Tension Into Kevin Hart Celebration

Jeff Ross said the rolex moment at Netflix’s live roast of Kevin Hart came when Katt Williams appeared out of nowhere and started going in on Hart. Ross said that was the only real tension he felt during the three-hour broadcast, before the room shifted into celebration.

Kevin Hart’s live roast

Shane Gillis hosted the second installment in Netflix’s series of GOAT roasts, with Tom Brady, Dwayne Johnson, Katt Williams and others onstage to roast Hart. Ross said Hart looked a little tense when Williams showed up unexpectedly, then asked for the hatchet to be buried.

Ross said the mood flipped quickly after that. The roast was on Mother’s Day, and he said Hart’s wife, Eniko, loved being in on it and was a great sport.

Ross in Eddie Murphy red

Ross wore a replica of Eddie Murphy’s red leather outfit from Delirious, a nod that fit the event’s old-school roast energy. He said he believed Hart and Williams did not actually talk until Williams came out on television, which made the surprise appearance land harder in the room.

Ross also said he had a separate problem backstage: the bathroom next to his dressing room was locked, and he was panicking until he whispered to Pete Davidson, “All right, I’m going to pee.”

The joke Ross cut

Ross said the joke that did not make it to air was, “Kevin, your dad sold crack, and you literally sell everything except crack.” He also said in the roast, “Your dad was a street hustler and addicted to crack cocaine,” followed by, “So I guess being dependent on the Rock runs in the family.”

Ross said, “I really did him dirty, and I did apologize at the after party.” He added that Hart sells comedy, tequila and a chain of vegan fast food restaurants, a line that shows how far the roast pushed into Hart’s public business life rather than stopping at the usual stage jokes.
