India National Cricket Team Holds No. 1 as New Zealand Closes to Five Points
The india national cricket team stayed No. 1 in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings after the May 11 update, but the cushion behind it got smaller. India’s rating slipped from 119 to 118, while New Zealand moved to 113 and cut the gap from eight points to five.
India and New Zealand
The change at the top was the sharpest move in the update. India kept first place even after losing one rating point, and New Zealand gained two, turning an eight-point gap into a five-point one.
Australia stayed third on 109, leaving the top three unchanged after the update. That keeps India ahead for now, but the margin is tighter than before the annual revision.
South Africa and Pakistan
South Africa moved into fourth after gaining four rating points to 102. Pakistan fell to fifth after dropping four points to 98, a direct swap that reshaped the chase pack behind the leading teams.
Sri Lanka held sixth place on 96 despite losing two points, and Afghanistan stayed seventh with 93 after a marginal drop. England remained eighth after gaining one point, while Bangladesh kept ninth place with 84.
Canada Falls to Last
West Indies slipped to 10th after losing three rating points to 74, and Ireland climbed above Zimbabwe into 11th after adding two points. Zimbabwe dropped to 12th after a one-point decline, while the United States moved above Scotland into 13th with a rating of 46.
Further down the table, the Netherlands added four points to reach 44, Oman improved to 33, and Nepal fell four points to 25. Namibia edged up to 23, the United Arab Emirates moved above Canada into 19th position after gaining three points, and Canada finished at the bottom with 10 after losing six points.
The annual update also came after India had kept the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings in the previous week’s update, and Australia currently leads the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings while also topping both women’s ODI and Women’s T20I rankings.
