Gregor Sharp Leads Two Doors Down Back for Eighth Season

Gregor Sharp is bringing two doors down back for an eighth season, three years after the sitcom last aired a full run. The new episodes will pick up straight after last year’s Christmas special, putting Latimer Crescent back at the center of the comedy slate.

Sharp on the Christmas reunion

“It was a lot of fun putting the band back together for the Christmas episode last year, so I’m really excited to be coming back with some new tunes, which we hope will turn out just as special,” Sharp said. That frames the return as more than a routine recommission: the show had appeared to wrap in 2023 after the passing of co-creator Simon Carlyle, and this season reverses that expectation with a full run instead of another one-off.

Latimer Crescent stays crowded

The series first broadcast in 2013 and follows residents in a suburban Glasgow street, with Beth and Eric still clinging to the hope of a quiet life while Colin, Cathy and Christine keep bringing chaos to their door. Michelle prepares for a new arrival, Gordon devotes himself to further education, and Alan and Ian keep trying to support their partners.

The said the new episodes will drop fans back into the “wonderfully claustrophobic and painfully familiar world of Latimer Crescent,” and Jon Petrie, the Director of Comedy, said: “Eight series in, and the team are still making a world that audiences properly love spending time in. That’s no mean feat, and it’s a huge credit to the talent, care and commitment behind the show. We’re really proud to bring it back for another series.”

Scotland backs return

Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning for Scotland, called the comeback “fantastic” and said: “We know how much they are loved by audiences up and down the country and we’re delighted to be bringing it back and stepping into their lives once again.” The show is already streaming on iPlayer, which gives the new season an immediate home rather than forcing viewers to wait for a separate launch window.

For viewers, the practical takeaway is simple: this is not a nostalgic rerun dressed up as news. It is a full eighth season, built on the Christmas special rather than replacing it, and that gives the sitcom a cleaner path back than a standalone revival would have done.
