Arctic Air Lowers Belfast Weather 3-7C Below Average From Wednesday
belfast weather turns colder from Wednesday as Arctic air pushes across the UK, with temperatures set to fall to 3-7C below average. Tuesday began frosty across much of England and Wales, while Scotland and Northern Ireland had a little rain instead.
Tuesday Across The UK
Daytime temperatures on Tuesday will briefly return to average, ranging from about 12-17C north to south. There will be less bite to the wind, and some strong spring sunshine is in the forecast. A weak weather front crossing Scotland and Northern Ireland has kept frost away there and brought light rain.
Wednesday Cold Spell
From Wednesday, the air arriving from northern Scandinavia and the Arctic circle is expected to pull temperatures down again. Low pressure will become more dominant, bringing strengthening winds and showers, with temperatures around 3-7C below average. The change follows the end of last week's spring warmth, when the UK recorded its highest temperature of the year so far, 26.6C in Kew Gardens, London, in early April.
Scotland Frost And Snow
As the weather front moves south into England and Wales, no more than a splash is expected. Scattered showers will follow, mainly in Scotland, Northern Ireland and later northern England. Those showers could turn wintry, with snow over the high ground of Scotland, while further ground frost is still likely.
Later in the week, lighter winds are expected to return. For people in the colder areas, that means the sharper chill eases a little, but the frost risk and shower line remain part of the forecast through the midweek spell.
