Man Utd Elliot Anderson Transfer Could Top £100m as Talks Loom
Manchester United’s man utd elliot anderson transfer plan is moving into direct talks with Nottingham Forest, and the fee could rise above £100m. That would make the 23-year-old midfielder United’s record signing and put the club on a fast track to reshape its midfield before the World Cup.
United Move on Anderson
United are ready to open club-to-club talks for Anderson and intend to move quickly. He has become their top midfield target, with the club planning to challenge Manchester City for a player both sides now view as the central prize in this market.
City were reported to be leading the race in April and earlier in May, and they remain heavily involved. They have also installed Anderson as their primary target, which leaves United having to act before the competition hardens around Nottingham Forest’s valuation.
Forest Set the Price
Forest’s asking price is believed to be in excess of £100m. That figure would clear United’s current record fee, the £89.3m they paid Juventus in 2016 to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford.
Ben Jacobs said United will move quickly on at least two midfielders because Manuel Ugarte could be sold and Casemiro is leaving, with Anderson still the top priority. He also said United will now start to find out the price, while City are pushing and confident of agreeing terms with the player.
Marinakis Holds the Leverage
The next step runs through Evangelos Marinakis, who will handle any Anderson exit personally. Forest’s status as a Premier League club gives them a stronger hand than they had earlier in the season, when the market picture around Anderson looked different.
Jacobs said the timing ahead of the World Cup is suddenly right to go to Nottingham Forest, and that both United and City will seek clarity on the price. Anderson is not agitating or desperate for a move before the tournament, so the pace will be set by the clubs, the fee and Marinakis’ decision.
